Part 1: The Journey Fundamental

Chapter 1: The Journey In

Our journey then by necessity will be a journey of the imagination. And so to the means of our journey, which will be via a very fantastical device. Let’s imagine we have ‘Fundamental Scope’ –it is not really a telescope, or really a microscope –even though using it will lead us to look at the smaller and smaller. On our fundamental scope we have 2 dials. The first dial takes us down to a new level of fundamentality per click. While the second dial acts as a kind of fundamentality zoom.

But what should we train our ‘F’ scope on? Ideally some substance that is quite fundamental – basic. So let’s get a clean glass out of the cupboard and fill it with water. Water is a good starting point because, as every schoolboy knows, water is made up of h2O. Or that is to say two hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom as we shall see. The advantage here as opposed to rock, skin or wool etc. is that we can make a vast jump down to the fundamental right away.

So, let’s begin. Focusing our F’ scope on the water in our glass we turn our dial down to the first click. Straight away we find ourselves taking a vast jump all the way down to molecules. And already things are very different to where we have come from. At this far distant microscopic scale, water molecules we discover are wobbly fuzzy slippery characters, constantly slip-sliding over each other in no particular fashion.

Turning down another click, we see that oxygen fly away, leaving us with 2 hydrogen atoms. This is because oxygen atoms are not as fundamental as the hydrogen atoms, This is principally because oxygen has 8 orbiting electrons and the nucleus of 8 protons and 8 neutrons, whereas hydrogen has only one proton at it’s nucleus and only one orbiting electron. The hydrogen atom is in fact the most fundamental of atoms having the least in its nucleus and in orbiting electrons. It’s as simple as it gets. Turning another click we are left with just one hydrogen atom. Now we might have expected to see a nice clear atomic nucleus with a single electron orbiting around it like the Earth around the sun. Instead, all we see is the roughly spherical fog or haze, what’s going on? To find out, we need to go in and travel to the nucleus. So, in we go.

At first we have to admit it is a journey underwhelming. All we are aware of is hazy and journey seemed to stretch on interminably, no sign of the atomic nucleus. For reasons that are not yet known, the perimeter of the atom is a long way from its nucleus, so you must be patient

But after a while we notice almost imperceptibly perhaps, that kind of flickering, a reminder as we are travelling, we are still slowly getting more fundamental at the same time. As we go along, the flicker becomes more distinct –what is happening? What we are experiencing is time and space starting to slowly separate and dissipate, at the same time, we notice the haze is lifting and clearing away as the flicker becomes more distinct as its high-speed in effect also slows.

Then at last, before us we see the nucleus, it is still a way off and it’s hard to make out, but seems to be constantly changing shape at rapid speed, it’s all very strange but things are about to get stranger. We also become aware of something else rapidly jumping about all over the place – that is jumping about utterly chaotic, one moment almost right on top of the nucleus, then a huge distance away, then somewhere in between. As things slow down we perceive it as a dynamic dark fuzzy object –but what is it? Is it the hydrogen atom’s single electron. Then it dawns on us, before, the electron was jumping about so fast that it was no more than a blur. The haze we were traveling through for so long, was merely the ‘blur’ of the super hyperactive electron. But things get even more disconcerting as we observe that there is no nice orbit of the electron around the nucleus. As things slow down further it is clear that our electron is not ‘moving’ at all! No instead, it appears to be teleporting from one position to another –in a totally chaotic fashion, it makes no sense. But it is time to turn and look at the nucleus.

Here we find also, things are not as we might have imagined. By now the air around us seems a fuzzy flicker, the source of this fuzziness is the nucleus. Before us we see just about, three fuzzy but definite objects jostling about, which in turn seem to be connected by a strange wobbly shapeless form, we’ll call it a dynamic U form. Now we are very close to the nucleus, everything has slowed down tremendously. To a point, that at last fuzziness around this, has resolved into strange branches and twigs, or hair like stuff. The bizarre shapeless wobbling uniform now seems to somehow have frayed edges in many places all over it. And it is these frayed edges that all of the hair is issuing from. These objects are in fact three fundamental particles, two up quarks and one down quark. Up and down refers to the nature of the individual spin of relative movement to each other of the particles, the way they twist and spin around each other. One thing is for sure they are all deeply connected to the wobbly shapeless U form in the middle which gives a clue to why their wobbly complicated dance around the U form is so random. But outside of the particle group, is also tree like hair. At this point things have slowed down even more, and we see that the hair is in fact alternating, and the source of the flickering we were experiencing. As we look back we see the hair is all over the place, And it is this hair that the electron is entangling in, of course the electron has its own hair too, and it is this, together with the general hair that issues from the nucleus, that determines where the electron is going to be, and entangle. So with each alternation, of the proton hair and the electron’s own hair –determines where the electron can be, by what the electron can relate to in the protons hair, relationship’s of hair between the two, changes. So the electrons behaviour of jumping about, starts to make sense. Looking at it or collectively we see a highly energetic dynamic system, and an inkling, as to why the atom is such a powerhouse.

But it is time to move on. Now we return to the ratchet dial. With our first click, the two quarks dissipate away along with the U form, and the electron jumps elsewhere. So we are left with a single quark. Normally, you cannot have a single quark, as quarks only occur in 3’s –we are not sure why entirely. But, since we are using an instrument of the imagination (the fundamental scope), we are just about allowed it!

At last we see something we might have expected, a fuzzy sphere. But it also has, it seems, poles. Out of the north top pole issues hair of an open tree-like structure. While at its south pole issues hair that seems to form a Mexican sombrero hat-like shape, whose brim bends downwards with heavily frayed edges issuing hair all over the place –like the north pole. However, with each alternation, it is clear that the south pole hair form has a tendency to ‘warp’ its shape via differences in its alternations throughout its form in a way the open tree structure of the north pole can not –due to its more open structure. So with each alternation our south pole sombrero finds itself having a ‘wobble’ –giving us a major clue to the U form we saw earlier. Which was clearly the collective ‘U fields’ of the 3 particle quarks connected collectively to form the central U form (fig 2). But more on this on the way back, for we have arrived at a significant point. We are now at the very threshold of existence. As it is, time and space barely exist at this point and we are looking at our last object. To go further into fundamentality is to leave space and time and objects behind us and enter into the alien sub realm of ‘pre existence’.

 

The Journey In Part 2:

Into the Realm of Pre Existence

 

Taking a deep breath, it is time to leave the ‘classic realm’ of existence as we know it. Before us is our particle, our last object, turning our ratchet dial, our particle dissipates apart into a cloud of parts. And with this, any ghostly visages of space and time entirely desert us along with objects – ‘things’.

Yet it is not nothing. Though time and space are all gone, we are still left with alternation. Using our fundamental scope, we have managed to put the alternation into reverse as we go more and more fundamental. As a result, those 5184 parts are now alternating into each other, rather than dissipating away. But what are they? They are ‘Quads’, the last tentative structures we are going to see on the way in. They are strange ghostly structures that have no need of form or time and space.

Eventually though, they resolve into just three quad types. It is time to turn our dial another click down. Now we see them dissipate into even lesser parts. These are ‘Tri Fields’, and there are only 12 of these and they are too fundamental to have structure, And yet as they quickly alternate into each other, we soon arrive at just 3 tri fields, then one. As we look at the remaining tri field, we realize, as its name suggests –that it too is made of smaller parts –or at least 3 basic fields.

Here at last we arrive at the ‘floor’ and the final building blocks, the most extreme fundamental elements we can have. Z N U. Of course we could equally call them P Q X –in the end it is irrelevant at this level, so for the sake of argument will stick to Z N U. What we can say is that they are so extreme, so abstract, they defy direct description altogether. Any description we may bravely attempt can only ever be an approximation. But the best answer as to what they are is to say that they are the most fundamental of all potentialities you can have. And though this is enlightening as far as it goes, one can almost hear the little child’s voice saying –“yes, but where do Z N U come from”? Of course they are right in asking the question. On the face of it though, having arrived at the ‘floor’ we can go no further. To do so would mean there would be no alternation and not even any potentiality of any kind at all. –And yet our journey is not ended! Indeed looking at the ratchet dial, shockingly we realize there are yet three clicks left. Bravely we turn the dial to the next click.

Straightaway, U merges into N, next N merges into Z. So we are left solely with Z. After a while we realize Z seems to have taken on a new quality, At last we realize that what we are looking at, is a kind of curious reflection. It seems to us, Z is being reflected out of a mirror. What is going on? There’s only one way to find out. There are now only two clicks left on our dial. Turning our dial we plunge through the mirror. Our first surprise is that our mirror is a double mirror and that something is being reflected back in on itself. Looking into the centre we discover at last what it is. But there is no ‘thing’ or ‘It’ -of course we have left that all far behind, because before us is the most fundamental absolute total zero. And yet, shockingly our journey has not ended, there is one last click. Fortunately this is a journey of the imagination, where even the truly impossible can be done. And so we can jump into absolute zero! A zero of literally everything and anything, or notions of anything –even virtuality is not allowed! It is the limit of all imagination it would seem, yet we go in.
