Cockenzie Port Seton Children’s Gala is one of the festivals that happen in this ancient fishing village community. But in the ‘strange spring’ the community was denied it. Still, the Gala Queen was crowned none the less, in Cockenzie House gardens, and then processed through the gardens lead by a lone piper, to her carriage with her consort only. People did come out to wave at her as she went past, standing at a ‘safe distance’ from each other, fewer than usual, and she waved to them on her short journey. Separate pictures of her and all her entourage in festival dress appeared in the local paper.
